Urgent PACC update ?: With 567 dogs in our shelter, our shelter is beyond full, putting us at a point where we are sadly deadlining dogs for space.
PACC can only be a life-saving shelter with our community's help. The best way to help us prevent euthanasia is by helping us get dogs home, whether that's through adoption, foster, or owner reclaim, or helping lost pets get home BEFORE bringing them to the shelter.
Every single dog that leaves the shelter helps us reduce the number of dogs in our shelter and get to a safer number of dogs in our shelter. Pictured are dozens of dogs and puppies that are ready to leave TODAY. All dogs and puppies are currently ✨FREE✨ to adopt, and if you can't commit to forever, we also desperately need fosters, even if it's just for a night or two.
If we're able to get our population down to 500 dogs by Tuesday 9/3, we will remove existing space deadlines. See dogs on deadline here: https://www.pima.gov/2770/Urgent-Dog-Placement-List. If you can help, please come to PACC.
It’s #FosterFriday! We want to introduce you to a very very special lady sweet Lily. ? Learn more about her:
"Hi! My name is Lily, I am a beautiful, quiet, polydactyl female cat. I'm ten years old. I'm very much a gal that likes things done on my own terms. It takes me some time to get comfortable in a new environment. But eventually, I start to show my sweet and affectionate side. Be prepared for me rubbing up on your leg or sitting on your chest while I make you some biscuits. I love my fancy feast canned food. I am happiest in a home with minimal stimulation. I might do well with one other senior cat that gives me space but my preference is being your one and only. If you would like to schedule an appointment to meet me, please reach out to our adoptions team as I am currently not in the shelter but a loving foster home. 520-327-6088 ext 173."
If you are not quite ready for the commitment of adoption, we are always in need of foster parents, please call our Foster Care team at 520-327-6088 ext. 148. Learn about our foster program here ? https://bit.ly/3a4K0dH
Meet Xena , a 7-year-old German Shepherd with a heart of gold. Xena is a sweet and gentle soul who can be a bit fearful when she first meets new people, so patience is key with this lovely lady. She's highly treat-motivated, and once she feels comfortable, her true sweetheart nature shines through. Xena would prefer to be the one and only pet in the home, where she can soak up all the love and attention. She's looking for a special place where she can feel safe, cherished, and enjoy her golden years in peace. Could that home be with you? Please call an adoptions matchmaker at 520-327-6088 ext. 173 to learn more about her before coming to meet her!
If you've heard we're full and want to help PACC dogs but can't foster or adopt, have you considered volunteering? Even a couple of hours a week can change lives - both the pets' and your own.
We are ALWAYS in need of more dog walkers here at PACC - it takes a lot of people power to exercise 550 dogs - but if you aren't interested in dog walking, we can use your help in other ways, too!

Good morning, HSSA family! We urgently need your support! This past Friday, 08/23, a heavily pregnant momma dog was brought into our care, and we knew she needed immediate attention. That very night, she gave birth to an astonishing 12 puppies in the home of one of our incredible foster volunteers. Now, more than ever, we need your help to ensure this little family receives the care and love they deserve.
We are searching for a dedicated foster home that can take in this momma and her 12 puppies for the next 5-6 weeks. This is a critical period, as the puppies need to stay with their mother until they are old enough to start eating on their own. They need a champion who can provide them with a safe, loving environment and keep them together during this crucial time. If you’re that hero, please call or email us today! Reach out to our foster care department at (520) 327-6088 ext. 148, or email foster@hssaz.org.
